Tyson Carter's nose was bitten off when he says he tried to help a young woman who was being harassed by two men at a Brentwood bus stop (Long Island, NY).
Northwell Health's Dr. Laurent Ganry reconstructed Carter's nose using 3D technology and a skin flap from the patient's forehead.
Carter has had three surgeries so far, and his nose looks like it did prior to the incident. To reconstruct it, Dr. Ganry used a 3D printer to make the patient's face and then modelled his nose using clay. This became a template for the surgery.
Carter called Ganry the "Michael Jordan of reconstruction"
